Alkagesta says it took part in African Energy Week 2026 in Cape Town, with Rustam Mirzoev representing the company throughout the five-day programme. In a statement on its website, the company described the gathering as bringing together energy executives, international investors and policymakers from both the public and private sectors to discuss Africa’s energy markets.
According to Alkagesta’s account, the conference examined Africa’s strategic role amid geopolitical change, the investment needs of its energy markets and the challenges of moving planned projects into delivery. Discussions spanned power generation, hydrocarbons and renewable energy. Participants represented activities ranging from exploration and production to energy transport, processing and distribution, alongside renewables and services, giving the programme a focus across several parts of the sector.
Energy security was among the central subjects highlighted in the statement, including Africa’s potential to become a strategic centre for growth in hydrocarbon production. Other sessions addressed funding for renewable energy development, efforts to revive onshore and previously developed assets, and opportunities to open up frontier basins. The company’s account presented these as conference discussion themes rather than announcements of specific investments or projects.
Country-focused investment sessions covered Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. Alkagesta said these offered insight into regional opportunities that could shape the continent’s next phase of exploration and production. Those discussions sat alongside the wider programme’s examination of financing requirements and the transition from proposed developments to operating projects across African energy markets.
Alkagesta linked its attendance to its existing work in African energy and commodity markets, including supplies of petroleum products and fertiliser in West and East Africa. The company said the event offered opportunities to engage with policymakers, investors and industry leaders, as well as strengthen relationships supporting its expanding African operations. Its statement did not identify any agreements or commercial transactions arising from the conference.
